JASH presents the 2009 - 2010 Lecture Series "The Fascinating Facts of Japan" "Transforming Technology" The Japan-America Society of Houston provides lectures to Houston-area educational institutions & organizations such as elementary and high schools as well as universities and social organizations. The lectures are complimentary, funded by the society to educate our local community about the land of Japan. "The Fascinating Facts of Japan": A 45-minute lecture which informs the audience on Japan's continual struggle with overpopulation while offer a glimpse into daily life. "Transforming Technology": A 45-minute lecture that provides an introduction into the existing technological projects developed in Japan...and will soon become a part of our everyday existence. The lectures are fun, fast paced and intended to be the highlight of a student's busy day. Throughout our lectures, the audience is allowed to ask questions, view a variety of video footage and examine actual items from the land of Japan. The video footage and photos are taken from the speaker's recent visits to Japan which includes a variety of amazing stories. Class/Audience participation is encouraged during these lectures and a teaching guide (for tests/quizzes) is also available.

Our Speaker: Mr. Carl Rosa - Executive Director of the Japan-America Society of Houston. Mr. Rosa has offered over 150 lectures within a two year time span on the Japanese culture, providing a unique glimpse into the world of Japan. Mr. Rosa travels to Japan at least twice every year to uncover the amazing facets for our audiences. Mr. Rosa attended the University of New Orleans and now resides in Houston, Texas. Mr. Rosa is also a teacher at Leisure Learning Ltd. in Houston. He is also the founder and President of the Sushi Club of Houston, a 1000+ member organization dedicated to encouraging an interest in Japanese cuisine.
